In recent adventures...part two.

The adventure continued in Paso Robles, CA.

The show was at the California Mid State Fair, so we wandered around for a few hours & did random fair things. You know, like eating nasty food like a Cookies & Cream Coffee Blast Milkshake, which wasn't worth the $5 I threw out for it? Yeah.

We ran into Gavin while looking at rabbits.

And then ran into Mickey & Jesse while wandering a bit later.

Another show, another front row ticket.

Gavin.

During Train's set, they always pull a few girls up during "She's On Fire" to sing and dance onstage. Morgan & I got chosen! (It pays to have front row!)

It. Was. So. Fun.

Lets face it. I loved every second of this. Being the center of attention makes me happy. Kidding. ;) Here's a little video for you:

Then m5 came on.

Afterwards I headed home, was on an adrenaline rush, and didn't go to sleep until nearly 4am. Yup. Lets just say the next day I stayed in bed pretty much the en.ti.re day!

UP NEXT: My homeboy, Matt Nathanson!

In recent adventures...

The past few weeks have been totally fun! I've runaway to San Diego/SoCal twice (my poor car!) and have had many friend and band good times!

First up on the list: Maroon5 / Train summer tour.

First stop was Chula Vista, CA with Heather and Aveen!

On the way we stopped in La Jolla, to get SPRINKLES. I will always, always, always splurge for Sprinkles Cupcakes. ALWAYS.

I try to gracefully eat them with a fork, to make them last longer, otherwise I shove them in my face and they're gone within seconds, like this:

ALSO! We met up with my bestest, Nicole, who I hadn't seen since OCTOBER! Major best friend fail! But living 420 or so miles from one another is tough! We enough desert before lunch, then hung out for a bit.

I love her! <3

After hang times, we headed to the show! Front row, bitches. Front row.

Showtime!

Gavin Degraw opened.

Then it was time for the loves of my life, Maroon 5!

Then, TRAIN!

After the show we were driving back to Heather's house, and her warning light for low air pressure came on. None of us had ever put air in our car tires before (hey, we're girls, we get it done for us!) so we had an adventure in the middle of the night at a random gas station. In the end, I think I did a good job, because the light went off! Yay, I fixed it!

Good Friday night! Up next, Paso Robles!

OneRepublic

It was a really loooong day. The BF and I woke up at 5am, to leave by 6am. We got stuck in construction traffic and finally made it to SF by 9am. (It was Gay Pride Day so we left early to make sure we didn't get stuck downtown, because they were closing off some streets beginning at 8am.) Hiked it out to GG Park, and met up with my ladies.

Parachute & Matt Nathanson are two of my top five bands/musicians, so I was a little worried the BF wouldn't like them. Also, in my almost-400-concert-attendance, I've never brought along anyone I was dating to a show, so it was all new to me. Good news: he likes Matt Nathanson (he's had one of his songs stuck in his head for the past few days actually...) but he formed his own little man crush obsession with OneRepublic! So, it was a good day for both of us. ;)

The show stated at noon, and was over by 4:30pm. Made it out of the city/on the road by 5:30, and after stopping for dinner halfway back at Fresh Choice (mmmmm, salad bar!) we were home by 8:30.

We were surprisingly awake for being up for so long (or so we thought!) so a little before 10, we were getting settled into bed to watch a movie. Yeah, no. Somehow we totally both conked out! I woke up close to 1am a little disoriented, haha!

This morning the boy kept talking about OneRepublic. I think I created a monster...

Tasty Thursdays.

I believe Thursdays are becoming my favorite day of the week, solely for the fact that I get a CSA box delivered.

This weeks box included:

mixed lettuces
strawberries
fennel
Tokyo turnips
“baby” golden beets
mei quin choy
shiitake mushrooms from Far West Fungi
mystery
: which was lil green squashes! in odd shapes!

The box was HUGE this week! I share with one of my co-workers, and I'm glad we split everything up, because I'm not even sure if I can finish my half of it before next week!

This is my portion of fennel:

Um...what does one DO with tubberwear bigger than your face full of fennel??

Pump, pump, pump, pump it up!

I think I have a problem.
I am a hoarder....

of canned pumpkin.

OK, ok. I know what you're thinking:
Joslyn, what does one need SO MANY cans of pumpkin for?

Last year there was a short on pumpkin, and I couldn't find cans of it ANYWHERE. Whenever I needed a 'kin fix, I couldn't feed the need! So, this past fall as soon as I saw those beautiful little cans hit the shelves, I stocked up. Don't worry, they don't expire until the end of '12, so I have until the end of the world to consume them. ;)

This morning, I was glad I had those cans stacked up awaiting for me, because I had the ultimate craving for:

PUMPKIN WAFFLES

Droooooooool. I think you need to run out and buy a can of pumpkin, and then come back and meet me here and make these immediately.

Perfect Pumpkin Waffles:

1 tsp cornstarch
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of pumpkin pie spice
2 tbsp egg beater egg whites (or 1 full egg white)
1/4 cup almond milk
1/4 cup canned pumpkin

Preheat your waffle iron on high while you're mixing the above ingredients. Turn down the heat about half way, spray with non-stick spray & pour in the batter. In about 3.5 minutes (or whenever the waffle pulls out of the iron cleanly) you have these big, fluffy, pumpkiny, delicious waffles.

Top with half a banana & 1 tbsp sugar free syrup and EAT!

You can thank me later.

Recent Reads #1.

Alright, folks.

Now that I FINALLY have internet at home for the first time since 2009 (how I lived without it, I do not know) I feel like I finally want to honest to blog BLOG. About a whole lot of things. My minds are full of ideas, and I'm just going to write them all out!

SO. Today marks entry numba one of what I'm gonna call:

RECENT READS.

Anyone I work with, or knows my reading habits, can tell you that I am a HUGE Charlaine Harris fan. I've read every single one of her books. So, whenever she releases a new one, I hole myself up in my room for awhile until I get through the currently pressed.

Charlaine's latest:

Um...I'm almost sad to write this, but I was HIGHLY disappointed. Sookie Stackhouse is probably one of my favorite fictional characters ever. (I am also a fan of the show, True Blood, that is based off of the books, even though this past season they went WAY crazy and ran off the beaten path of following along with the books storylines.) Anyway, I feel like nothing major happened in the plot of this book until the last 50 pages or so, and once the action started I was left with, "That's IT?"

I LOVED books 1 - 9, but I think book 10 & 11 (the current one) have just been very lack luster.

SIGH.

I'm beginning to think Charlaine is busting them out for money, and not for enhancing the story line. :(

Sad. If you're a Charlaine Harris fan though, I do recommend that you read it and see what you think for yourself, and not just listen to my opinion. I'd probably give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

Onward, to find a more exciting read!
